LG Neon Defects
LG Neon is a nice looking cell phone with Qwetry keypad and 2 MegaPixels camers. Its a cheap phone compared to its features and other phones. It looks nice and supports Java and almost every feature that a phone in this category support.

Absence of:
WLAN
3G network
GPS
Infrared.

Defects:
I have never used this phone but I have collected many users review to write some defects of the phone. As I started to read reviews of LG Neon in the internet, I found that most of them were all negative comments. One of the user who bought 3 LG Neon phone from AT&T complained that two out of three had a random power off.
Other major issue found with this phone is sometimes when you make a call, you do not hear the other party speaking for about 30-60 seconds. This fault is explored in many phones.
I have found a bunch of problems in this phone.

Although this phone looks cool and has a low price range, I would always recommend not to buy this one. You'd better look reviews on the phone you are buying because you can never choose a phone looking its outlook as a book can never be judged just by its cover.

I'm pretty familiar with that phone since one of my good friends had it until recently. The thing is though, the power turn off was really bad (they should've recalled it lol) I think the 2nd problem you mentioned could've been a networking dead spot issue though.

All in all, a pretty cheap phone, but you get what you pay for :P
